Recognizing the Modern Woodmen of America’s free Youth Educational Programs.

    Whereas, Modern Woodmen of America's free Youth Educational Programs are a source of support for thousands of teachers and youth leaders nationwide; and

    Whereas, As a not-for-profit fraternal benefit society, Modern Woodmen of America donates youth education materials valued at well over $2 million each year, while reaching over 2 million children each year; and

    Whereas, In 2012, Modern Woodmen of America's West Virginia region donated over 3,403 youth educational programs totaling $234,030.53, assisting 363,884 children, with the Exercise and Nutrition program alone reaching 117,475 children, with a total reimbursement totaling $71,995.50; and

    Whereas, The Youth Educational Programs are made up of six different themes: Ecology Awareness, Exercise and Nutrition, Financial Literacy, Patriotic Civics, Safety and Life Skills, and Youth Speech Contest; and

 

    Whereas, Each of these youth educational programs focuses on important aspects in a child's life. Children begin learning about healthy eating habits and the importance of exercising with the Exercise and Nutrition program, and they learn to be financially independent utilizing the Financial Literacy program; and

    Whereas, These programs are designed to help all children in the areas of safety, citizenship, creativeness and self-confidence; therefore, be it

    Resolved by the House of Delegates:

    That the House hereby recognizes and honors Modern Woodmen of America’s contributions to the youth of West Virginia; and

    Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to Modern Woodmen of America.
